QE TRIVIA GETS IT’S 1000th GOOGLE REVIEW!
7 years ago, "trivia host" wasn't exactly a career path anyone recommended.
This week, QE Trivia hit 1,000 five-star Google reviews, and I've been sitting with everything it took to get here.
There've been real ups and downs in this pursuit — the thrill of performance, the burnout of juggling ten roles at once, the surreal moment of landing clients who are paying you to just... be you. And the harder truth: sometimes becoming the leader you need to be means choosing to lose the life you had before.
I'm so proud of and grateful for my team — the hosts and admin freelancers, past and present, who show up to every game like it's their own. They've carried this forward and kept me going through crises both personal and professional.
Having a business isn't always fun. You confront yourself constantly. You take on more than you ever bargained for. You learn who's actually in it for the dream, and who just sees you as a means to an end. It's so much better with the right people, at the right time. One thing hasn't changed since day one: we're still doing this for the love of the game.
I celebrated the 1,000th review at 1 Hotel with Pisco Sours, next to a table of amazing women visiting from Detroit — who later came out to one of our games at Fortunate Fox. That's kind of the perfect encapsulation of what this whole thing is.
1,000 five-star reviews is exciting because it externalizes something we all feel while grinding away at our small piece of something bigger: that we've built an experience worth sharing. We don't get the traditional rewards and recognition — no bosses, no promotions. We work for our clients and our audiences, and having our collective energy recognized like this means everything.
Thank you if you've been part of this journey in any way — as an audience member, a bar or corporate client, a freelancer, a friend I cried to on the phone at 2am, a friend I spammed with hustle-hard emails, or an old coworker who put up with my pre-diagnosis puppy energy while I figured out my place in the world.
THANK YOU. Onto the next 1,000. 🥂
